Indian Government may already have begun its first phase of much controversial and unproven method of unique identity cards specific for each individual.Probably this card is based on finger prints.
This project is allocated to Unique identification authority, a new government department created to run this task of assigning each and every Indian citizen an exclusive number and storing all the personal details of that individual on an electronic card.
This Mutipurpose National Identity Card (MINC) is an initiative of Indian government in order to root out corruption and to enhance national security.
This project was approved in November 2008.The initial phase is supposed to cover 9 states and every Indian citizen is expected to be issued a MNIC(unique identity card) by the year 2012.
