What is the best health care system in today’s world?

Amplelife looked very closely at various health systems in the world to find the answer for this question. May be there is no perfect health system just like there is no perfect way of governance in any country. Every system has its own flaws.

Europe always boasts of its free health care for all. Its health system is based on the fundamental right of access to health for all.

Britain has successfully implemented free health care system for 62 years now through NHS. Now there is too much political interference at every level in NHS and gradually the waiting periods and managerial bureaucracy involved is paving way for the semi-privatisation of public health care.

Other European countries like Switzerland and Netherlands will soon make buying of health insurance mandatory for everyone but has a very efficient health care system for those holding health insurance.

France also boasts of free health care for all its citizens but is facing tremendous pressure in ensuring quality care in the public health care system.

USA is in big mess with the private insurance companies dictating the functioning and delivery of health care services at every level. If someone doesn’t hold a private health insurance in USA then it is impossible to access decent health care without becoming bankrupt.

India interestingly has a well established public health care system but has very poor funding and almost negligible government support when it comes to delivery of the basic services in this system. India currently has one of the biggest private health care systems in the world and Indian government is not doing enough to regulate the private health care costs and quality. So the common man bears the brunt of huge costs in order to avail decent health care services.

Australia also competes with Europe in ensuring free health care delivery to its citizens but it only comes at the cost of higher taxes and long waiting times as well as political interference at many levels. There is a strong competition from private insurance providers and a flourishing private health care practice in Australia for those who can afford it.

Governments should make genuine efforts to be able to differentiate the different income groups clearly and then ensure that each group contributes to the effective functioning of the health care industry in their own capacity whether through tax payments or insurance costs.

The best balance will only be achieved when the government and private health care providers work together with the private health care insurance providers and ensure that best possible health care is delivered promptly to each and everyone in the need of immediate care.

The healthcare providers should ensure that the quality of health care is up to date and evidence based and work for the best outcome of every patient irrespective of his/her insurance status.

The residents of any particular country, no matter whether they are temporary or permanent residents should be allowed to avail complete healthcare irrespective of their insurance status or citizenship status.

The complete and unrestricted access to healthcare is the basic fundamental right of every human being born in this world.
